project for a street corner (Yankees)

project for a street corner (Yankees), 2011
color video, with sound, 29 seconds

A group of local teenagers and artist cross an extra-wide intersection near Yankee Stadium just before a baseball game, combing through a wave of sports fans from outside the neighborhood, who move in the opposite direction towards the camera.

This short performance physically manifests a symbolic confrontation discussed by teens in workshop; baseball fans from elsewhere are perceived by locals to invade the area as they overfill streets and sidewalks.

This project was workshopped and performed with the Bronx Museum Teen Council.
