left: the person circled in red has been instructed to walk in a tight circle for two minutes, regardless of how crowded the sidewalk becomes.

right: the person in the image has been asked to stand on a manhole cover and hold her ground, regardless of who walks by or how crowded the corner becomes as people gather and wait to cross with the streetlight.

This is the first video in the project for a street corner series, and features two subtle street interventions devised during a few days of testing with friends on a busy street corner, with whom I communicated by cell phone. The conversation was recorded while simultaneously, the scene was videotaped from five stories above.

left: artist lies on sidewalk for a few minutes (promotional image).

right: Jane asks passerby for directions.

Recorded through a surveillance camera, artist and friends carry out a series of actions to highlight and/or disrupt the ordinary behaviors of passerby on a section of 14th St between 8th and 9th Avenues in Manhattan, two hours a day for three days.

Action shown below: strategically taking photographs to stop or change the path of those passing by.
